Afternoon,Mrs T!Yes,am down to 11 left, but despite all you say those TV presenters etc I just cannot find in the many lists I've already googled several times! Will not give in yet, though! It's just that it's much more difficult for me than the place names in summer:there a good atlas was enough!

greedy kite,

Just stick with it, not being in Britain isn't a hurdle because the clues are cryptically working well, I live in England and after a couple of perusals over the quiz, only have about 40 solved up to now.
I will have a good grapple with it when I get more time next month.
You mentioned you live between Toulouse and the Pyrenees, that's a lovely area, I travelled that route when I first tried skiing and been back 3 or 4 times snowboarding in Soldeu and Pas de la Casa. We stopped for coffee in a place called Ax-le-thermes.
It was when I was travelling back from there in January 2000 on a Sunday morning that I bought the Sunday Times when we landed and I had won the Prize of the gold pen and my name was in the paper as the winner, which was a great feeling.

To Les 40:interesting to hear your experiences in this region.Yes,it's fantastic here actually (but don't tell anybody)--as long as you're looking for absolute tranquillity.Others it might easily drive mad,of course. All depends what yo

u really need! But back to the quiz:I have only 10 left, but whatever people say,I am absolutely stuck on them, have been for a week,so am going to ask for some kind of hint, while respecting the need for reticence. My problems are 28,45,46,47,53,54,59,60,62,64.Surely there are ways of assisting that we can all accept, not going too far? That has worked beautifully,to quote only one example,on the "L Plates" thread, now totalling over 250 postings!Still hopeful...

Good morning greedy kite (what does that mean out of interest?). Itrust all is well over the...... puddle(?) It's extremely hot here in Blighty.
I'll give you a few tips to keep you going for now. I've picked the ones which from my limited knowledge of you I think you will definitely be familiar with:

45 Think of what you are living now!
46 Now think of WHERE you are living - should help you with this one
53 You may have moved abroad to get away from this ubiquitous person!
59 Don't know when you left the UK, but this person isn't exactly a newcomer on the scene
60 Again - DEFINITELY not a newcomer!
62 Another 'oldie' but she may still have received passes
Good luck, let me know how you get on with these.

It is indeed a hot day here, and I'm stuck in a windowless office all day!
I like your subtlety, Mrs Trellis, but are you sure about the numbering of your first two hints?

Sorry, Mrs Trellis. I misread your first two hints. Your numbering is quite correct.

I can't believe it myself:after a long night session I now have only one to go!To be honest, none of the help offered actually got me any further, and of the 9 women now identified in the past few hours I can honestly say I've never heard of 5 of them in my life!I have been away half a century, and celebrities from the world of e.g. television are completely unknown in France & Germany.SO who can help just once (indirectly,of course)with Nr 60:"City bird created pie chart" 8 + 11 letters, surname beginning between Mou & Pal (I assume),"not a newcomer" (thank you Mrs Trellis!):above all I don't see where the profession or whatever is hinted at---city bird???I didn't even know what a pie chart is at first---or is that deliberately misleading?Obviously no anagram;I've tried to google 8-letter city names,11-letter bird names I caqn find no lists, but those may both be irrelevant. Of course I could spend all my nights for the next 2 months continuing to pull out my hair, but perhaps s'one will show a little mercy.I'm not impatient,it's just too much when one has so many other pleasant things to do here (quite apart from obligations etc).
And by the way, dear Mrs T:if I revealed why I chose my rather strange code name, certain clever people could identify me (can't explain more).
Sorry to go on so long, but this quiz really has cost me more energy than anything else of this nature i've ever attempted---and now I'm all but finished,I simply can't give up any longer!Thank you all for your patience & understanding!

Greedykite, I am not doing this puzzle, but read your last post and the answer came to me in a flash - don't know how! Normal crossword-solving must have kicked in -
City - not in UK, think Italy
Bird- a tuneful one.
I didn't know what 'pie chart' had to do with her, so I googled it and it is actually relevant.
Hope this is cryptic enough/not too cryptic.

Well greedy kite, I'm sorry none of my help was of any use - you're welcome anyway.
