Just answered by own question from the previous post - The Times

I too do both sets of clues now, but only in the last few months have I been tackling the cryptic. I was beginning to feel very clever and then hit a brick wall with this weeks!
Still struggling with quite a few, mainly in the top third.

JG - That's why I felt so mortified about that recent incident as I was only attempting to be helpful. It was probably the wrong answer anyway. I just get a great deal of pleasure from this site trying to help others and also to ask some of the lovely people on this site to also help me.

Thanks that would seem a good answer but now I have to rethink 16a of which I was sure until it acquired a g in them middle!

I have Muzziest.

gags = muzzles, change the fifth letter (L) for one (i) and add the time (T).

But I'm still scratching my head a bit on the word play in the answer Oxford English Dictionary for 16 across

I only chose that as nothing else seemed to fit. I also would like an explantion for the OED as that was a pure guess but fitted!
