All I can get is an anagram, wadset, which apparently means mortgage in Scotland.

The two clues share an unch where I put the exclamatıon mark thus:

ACROSS: I.!.T
DOWN: .A.!.E

Stumped!

The 'e' is wrong in your second clue - the answer is Casino, anagram of a coins.
The other one is 'idiot'.
