tony, no offence taken,or meant.
A cautionary tale that was perhaps best left unsaid?

absolutely not.i am trevor.
i just thought that your story was unhelpful to Paul who must be pretty stressed out already.
i know from other stuff that you have posted that you are far from a trouble maker (i don't recognise Sylvia either - moral minority?)
all the best. trevor

Have just come on line, and I agree with Trevor's and Silvia's thoughts about posting this on the World Wide Net.
My second thoughts are that you had better start searching for another watering hole.
I am certain that had any regular in my local who posted this sort of thing on the internet would be ostracised by everyone.
Also a pretty good chance that Mine Host would bar the person.
To sum up,it was a very foolish thing to do.

Who is Sylvia? what is she,
That all our swains commend her?
Holy, fair and wise is she;
The heavens such grace did lend her,
That she might admiréd be.

Tonyw did you post tis ecause you are upset for your friend, and just wanted to offload it so to speak? I know sometimes when life deals us or those we love crap, it can feel better just to get it off your chest even though there are no real answers. I tend to sound off on FB via private messaging to friends and family, but sometimes you wish that there was someone to talk to, that wasn't involved, and faceless.

I really don't see that Tonyw did anything wrong by telling us his little story.

Lots of us here include personal bits of information and I think the reason is that generally we're a fairly small close-knit (sorry Mamya!) bunch of like-minded people.

This will inevitably lead to us exchanging little anecdotes occasionally.

Quite why the site is so quiet I don't know - it could be the registration process but it's so quick and if anyone wants help with a clue, it must be worth the little amount of time it takes.

Rather than sometimes hang about waiting for a question, I don't think it's a great crime for Tonyw to have told us his tale - he made it perfectly clear it wasn't crossword-related.

En passant, I'd love to know whether the chap goes ahead with the Wedding - he wouldn't be the first person to love and raise a child that wasn't his.

Hi Tonyw,

Last nights "slip of the keys" was probably not one of your brighter moves, but I don't feel there was any malice intended.

What's done is done.

Hope it all works out well.

Hi,Tony.Just wanted to say I,too, find nothing distasteful, let alone outrageous about your anecdote in the way you told it.I wonder why some people love to get up on their moral high horses here where the motivation and possible effects were not merely harmless but perfectly respectable, properly understood. You are not onlt a great help often on solutions, but raise human questions that could be seriously debated here without offending anyone.Keep it up!
