It was the only 2-digit multiple of 10 in base 10 greater than 10 that was missing from the sequence and also the only one with a '6' in it.

I remember this and I gave the answer as 60 as it was the only no.in the sequence that was not a motorway.M30 M40 M50etc all nos.of motorways.
Never did hear if this was the correct answer though.

It was certainly a long time ago and we all stuck on it but the "setter" kept pushing it time after time.
Didn't see him ever again on the forum.Another nine day wonder and typically no thank you or acknowledgement was posted.
Can't remember his name though.

Yes, I remember this thread(s): was pretty disgusted that the setter never thanked anybody for the great amount of effort that went into answering the post(s). The sadder side of the Net.
