Must admit you are quite right John: about the ARM architecture, that was used in the Archimedes. The following computers I have also had and used, Dragon,Commodore and RMC before progressing to a VAX PDP mainframe. Must differ slightly with video systems. Still have and use occasionally a Philips V2020. Another politically destroyed product.

Why did you need a Vax PDP mainframe? How big is it? What did it do to your electricity bills? Did it heat your house?

At home I have a http://www.vax.co.uk/shop/product/multifunction/-Vax-6131">Vax 6131 but only use it to clean floors as it's not good at sums.

It's not very big but is noisy and very orange.

It wasn't all that big, about the size of a small wardrobe. Electricity was cheap in those days.

Just checking in and I found this thread had descended to page four. What are all you guys playing at when I'm not around? i'm also confused as there's a secret bunker nearby to where i live and i could never understand why they advertise it in local newspapers and road signs directing you towards it, surely if there is that much publicity they cannot call it secret anymore, perhaps bunker does not have the same appeal

were they "secret" during the second big one - ww2?
