Somewhere, way back when, one of you cleverclogs gave a simple way to rush to the most recent posting, rather than having to wear out the old scrolling digits - but as I'm a bear of little patience I can't be arsed to reread all the brilliance which appears in this (distinctly non-cruciform) thread. open the original thread, then click on any of the numbers at the bottom (1 thru 10)
you should then have in the address bar (top of page)something like

http://www.crosswordsolver.org/forum/15502/offset/40

change the last digits to a number just below the number of posts (you can read this at the bottom left of the 1st post - "Post 1 of 428" is what it says now)

basically you need to change the "offset/" number.

Just tested Trevor's rat-run and it works. I'll now have to find something else to do with my scrolling finger to keep it excercised...

I'm sure someone can explain it in a better way than I did, trouble is if you don't know how to get here reasonably quickly you probably won't bother.
It will end up being stagnant.
