Outstanding folks,

Been away to God's country for a few days, have come back to find that the 200 posts have been blown out of the water. We can hardly leave the post mid century so:-

Where does "Shrewd fool or scrump" come from?

Mamya

You mentioned biskwits knitted
And young Trevor thought it was
A euphemistic pooey word
Now I'm worried just because

You've now made jammy dodgers
And you signed of with "wink wink"
So, what that's a euphemism for
I really dread to think.

You spotted it Jimb,
Jammy Dodgers are indeed a code (wink)
But am really not trying to hoodwink.
Am sure that you all know as I plain and purl,
that I`m only trying to save the world.

OOoops dropped a stitch must go look for it

John from A.

Do they have to be military vehicles, or could I for instance posit Emerson,Lake and Palmer, driving to a gig in Nuneaton (or even Arran for that matter)?
Only, I know where we're going with them.

They can be any type of vehicle you choose. Indeed Emerson, Lake & Palmer driving to a gig may attract a 20 mile line of groupies, but would today's "youf" know why?

Desperate to keep this thread in the frame, so, here's an old chestnut;

Scenario;

You are a prisoner and are faced with two options in that there are two doors doors offering escape.
Each door is protected by a guard who will answer one question. One guard will always answer truthfully, whereas the other will always tell a lie.

One door leads to freedom and the other leads to eternal occupancy of the big brother house.

What question could you ask of either guard that would tell you what action to take to ensure your avoidance of joining the no-hopers in the house of horrors.

And, after asking the question, what action would you take.

The question is "what is my name?", as you obviously know the answer. When you get the answer, you know whether that guard is telling the truth or not. Armed with that info, you then ask the second guard his question, which is "is this the escape route?" Again, based on the first answer you know whether to believe him or not, and you can then choose the correct exit.

Sorry, I missed out one important point, you are allowed only one question before you then take whatever action you deem is correct.
