Thank you Mr P - have finished at last! Incidentally, I never enter the competition so dont feel like a cheat asking for more help! Can I join in the British Holiday Debate? Spent some happy time up in Tongue, Sutherland ages ago - hope it has not changed too much! Like Ireland and and SW England, also Norfolk. Dont you like living in the Midlands, Murphy (I am an ex Brummie)

HI, old gal,

Welcome indeed. It is unlikely that there will have been much change in Tongue. We tend to take life rather slowly up north. The wee island where I live often seems as if it is firmly set in the 50s. When digital radio was quite new, and still expensive, I lashed out £100 on a set, only to find that DAB does stretch this far. We are still waiting for it.

I like living in a quiet area. It suits my particular brand of laziness. We do get a lot of day trippers from Easter until about the end of October. I prefer the winter months when you sometimes meet the occasional person on the street.

Best wishes.

P

Dear Mr Pipesmoker - that naughty Bubbles! I didn't dare mention the feet-in-it episode to Charlie. He too is unrepentant about such things and would undoubtedly remind me that he has a lot to put up with, though what, bearing in mind he lives like a lord, I do not know. Mull! One of the most beautiful places in the world. I've been to Lewis but prefer the rather more chocolate box beauty of the West and the Islands. There is another island off Mull too, Erraid, where at a Midsummer Fest I first heard the music of Pat Methany, which became one of my favourites. I have spent a great deal of time in Scotland and consider it one of my Soul's Resting Places. In fact, I wish we were not discussing it because I miss it and can't go there at present. But this afternoon I am going to a Sussex Bluebell Wood and what could be better than that. Once again, Greetings to you all, CH.
P.S. Used to live in Dundee and my home is full of the lovely things I bought at the Paddy's.

Good morning all!
Just back from a short break and have caught up with several crosswords. Tonight will be the DT crosswords!
RT this week was OK but would agree with previous posts about 7A &18D. Like Wee Jock did like 10A & 14A.
Having been away does mean that the garden needs my attention for the next couple of days!! No shortage of work here!
Best wishes to all

We have been to Harris and Lewis and North & South Uist and Benbecula. Yes,we went to Iona, but it was raining so hard we couldn't see owt. Joy of joys - fulfilled a lifetime ambition to go to Staffa - it was wild and wonderful. My husband wants to go to St kilda??????
We do like the Midlands and find getting lost in the Cotswolds a real pleasure, but we can't help wanting to be by the sea and on an island.
There has been a mouse living in our bathroom for 5 days. Our bad cat brought one in and let it go. It has been living in the boxing-in round the pipes, so we have had to feed it on muesli & cheese and keep the door shut. Still, he didn't eat it, so I won't stop his pocket money.

Hi, Murphy, It's funny how when they bring something in, they let it go, then spend the next two days on search duty. After this, they forget about it, and we are left with the task of returning it to the field. From time to time, I have had to deal with bats and baby rabbits delivered by the same miscreant. She does get annoyed when you take her prey off her.

Just popped on as I've been struggling with 6D since Wednesday and needed help. Thank you Caravaggio for your explanation, realised that I'd got 11A slightly wrong and then it all became clear, so thanks again. By the way got the answer to 18D but still can't figure it out!

Thanks Caravaggio for the comment about 8a. I was unsure until you suggested substituting laboratory for dog. Can now post it off.

Hello my Darlings, I have not deserted you, it's just I have been unwell and not had the inclination to do crosswords, just one to get in this weeks puzzle (Radio Times Prize Crossword No.17), 2 Down ~ Scoff at bear twice (4-4), don't give me a straight answer, it spoils the fun, just a little help along the way please.

THICKO.
