FAO Pastille

I too am a Scot-A Weegie in fact, although I now live in Renfrewshire.

I haven't posted for a while but I still follow the threads.Like Wee Jock and many others I got fed up with the eejits trying to spoil the site.I was going to give up altogether but after reading all the comments I will carry on.I love the banter and the camaraderie-and of course the hints!

Hi Ann,

Hi Tonyw...Eeejit I like the 3 e spelling, is a Scottish word, meaning an idiot, a numpty, a ignoramus, a dumpling,a Josuestan.

Why do you query this? Is it used too, in your neck-of the-woods?

sorry if I'm wrong but I thought that eejit was an Irish mispronunciation of idiot.
I do not mean to offend, but I have never heard a true Scot use the word.

i think it was Roddy Doyle who popularised eejit as the phonetical spelling of idiot (in an irish accent).

Hi Tonyw,

First let me say it was a bit rude of me to answer for Ann (sorry Ann.

There are a great connection with us Celts you know.

And Trevor...

The Welsh language and Gaelic are also similar in a lot of words. As I am also half Welsh and my father was a native speaker, he was amazed a how many words were "soundylikey"

I can only remember the rude ones though, pity.
