Got the character and the film now! My flawed maths wasn't helping. What is really annoying me is that I looked at this for a couple of hours yesterday as googling had led me to the co-writer, sister of hinge. Time to do a little more digging.

Doh!! It is so obvious when you see it! By 'eck what a truly brilliant puzzle, one of the hardest, most frustrating and thoroughly enjoyable for a long time. Now, finally, I can move onto the "I".

Thanks. I have written the email address down. I now have the first name of the individual.

Am I right in thinking that there are three entries in ODQ for the quotation we need, all of which are co-authored?

This is one tough crossword! I think I’m finally at the point where I can start attempting to fill the grid. I’ve made a start pencilling some bars in. Then I remembered that one of the forum contributors (was it mooncow?) created a programme/link for helping to organise carte blanche grids. I should’ve bookmarked it! Does anyone have the link?

I've cold-solved most of the clues and tentatively started to fill the grid. I have the name and the three word phrase but am struggling to find the quotation. Presumably the phrase is a clue to the quotation and the quotation is a help in filling the grid?
