Similar problems to others for me too - have solved about half the clues, maybe more but, as yet, no idea on how to enter them!

Do you mean Musical stops gitto?

That's the def. The rest of the wo doesn't require any knowledge of French

thanks bathmatters, that has got me to only having one clue left

good nappy for bairn's ass

I then need to work out what on earth is going on - the first name isnt leaping out from the words i have - they are 3, 9, 8, 2, 5 - is that right?

Andyp - if you have the second name, there aren’t many options for the first

Andyp yes you you’ve got it!

Re: putting together that first name

The first extra word (3) is the definition (antipodal reference); the answer also happens to be a common man’s name.

Surprisingly, that first word is NOT scatalogical as one would normally expect - think container.

Andyp

Good nappy for bairn’s ass.

Last word is def.

Usual abbreviation for good (1) plus Scots word for nap, made into an adjective (4)

Could really do with some help gridding… don’t know where to start

You know it’s 90 degree symmetry so should be able to place most of bars with the enumerations given and then would fill what you can and make a few guesses here and there trying to get words to fit into each other and then just hope something clicks!
