I'm just left with two. One down seems to be CHARDS but I can't see the significance of the "second highest".
Also I don't see 36ac at all. Thanks.

Could someone give a hint for 11 (across). I have virtually all the 'letters' but suspect that they are mostly clashes.

Foinaven - I found this clue particularly difficult and finally cracked it by looking at the letter alternatives. I don't think it parses well unless there is something I haven't seen. Suffice to say you have 4 on each hand and 5 on each foot - and it's a disease of turnips!

Nearly there but can't get the last 3 clues. Have the theme and its solution. Any hints for 25a, 22d and 26d appreciated.

25- subtractive anagram take out used from odious creep and then it is an anagram of an old medicine

22 J (journal) and 65 letter word for begins less its first letter (o)

26d
Bees an extra word. Three hundred as in a slang word for it. Honey is pet in the wordplay

Foinaven - I looked hard for an anagram in there and only came up with a partial.

Smithsax - 25a is an anagram of odious creep after removing used. 22d is found under J in Chambers rather than its own heading. Solved by J for journal followed by a word for starts minus its O. 26d parsing still eludes me even after removing the apparent extra word. Hard cracking the alternative letters came up with gasper - please let me know if you find something better or a good parsing!

Thanks for 26d djawhufc - I had never heard of the word in that context - duly amended! I also think smoker is a bit weak as part of the clue (just my opinion)
