No need to log off Meursault. I always agonise about when a hint turns into a spoiler - it's a fine dividing line sometimes. I think we get it right most of the time and I'm always grateful for the nudges I receive on here!

Thank you both. Got so hung up on the philosopher being Hobbes and trying to parse hobbian (which was bad enough!) that I couldn't see the wood for the bees, as it were. (Sorry, couldn't resist)

Ethik - 27a is scab - front of Store see (C) A Black and definition is rat. 37a is sulfur - American spelling of the colour. A sufu is a Fijian sarong with f for fellow inside and followed by a bit (first letter of) Reluctance. Hope this helps!
