Hello, Elle!
When I had a laptop I had Internet Explorer, too.
When Microsoft Edge came out I switched to Google Chrome, and to me it was better.
But I never had any problems with IE, when I used it.
It worked away fine.
I think Edge is supposed to be better than IE, but your daughter is the one to listen to.
When shall she manage to visit?

Ah, Rusty, that I don't know!
Now that she is back working full time , it is not easy for her, having two young children with whom to cope, as well as a demanding job.
This coming Saturday, BB has his school's Christmas Fair.
And on Sunday we are invited over to them........so probably she will not make it here until at least the weekend after that!
And now I am away to my bed.......before this dim lighting lulls me to sleep right here.....!
G'night.........sleep tight!

Good day, Elle!
It is wet and foggy here!
Any progress with the Black Friday shopping?
Why not take your desktop with you to your daughter's home on Sunday?
She could fix it there, probably!
Just finished my puzzle.
Quite a good one.
Setter has done a fine job!

Hi, Rusty!
Dampish here...but very mild......
Not my favourite weather at all!
Dog didn't last very long in the "clean" stakes....
I'll swear she was the muddiest dog in the park this morning!
Yes, good crosswords today, I thought.
I have completed - and parsed! - both the 15 x15 and the QC.......
Very satisfying!
I do have one "complaint".......
I didn't like 9a...."abattoir"
I thought it rather a "sick" clue and somewhat in bad taste?
(What do you think, or is this just me?)
I didn't find anything to interest me amongst Amazon's bargains!

Hello, Elle!
Snap!
Yes I agree that clue/answer is in bad taste, for me, at least.
I feel exactly the same regarding "abattoir" and I had it spelled with "bb" and one "t", which held me up until I found out the correct spelling!
I have it in my head that the puzzle editors frown upon words like that, and words indicating serious illnesses.
I have two granddaughters who do not eat meat because their view is animals should not be killed for them to eat.
I am very pleased they can think for themselves!
So, no bargains for you on Amazon?
I do not think ASDA are doing it this year.

Hi, Rusty!
We are just back from a quick walk - a sudden decision to go, as there was a temporary improvement in the weather.
It is now becoming very dark indeed...although only half past three....so I think more rain is threatening........
I have it in mind maybe to complain about that type of clue........?
Worth taking a stand? Or a waste of time?
Our younger daughter is also vegetarian......she has been so for many years ...since Sixth Form at school.
I may buy some books from Amazon, but nothing from their special Sale.
Right.....coffee!

Hello, Elle!
It is dark here all day, Elle, and wet, though less foggy!
Complain about the clue?
I would not, but by all means you do so if you think it warrants it.
I would imagine Mr Rogan pondered the clue before letting it pass.
You could renew your correspondence with Rose!
My Miss O'H is 10 or 11, (I can never remember ages!) and has been vegetarian for some time.
I may buy a book or two from Amazon, too.
Especially if they are only 1p!

Hi, Rusty!
I am fast being beset by family and friends wanting to discuss Christmas arrangements!
Is it already that close?
It is dawning on me how little I have thought about the coming event......nor planned anything (much) towards it!
I must also make plans to accommodate everyone over the New Year....some family members will of course be staying with us.
You may remember that my husband's birthday falls on New Year's Day, so we always have a big family celebration on that day.
We all look forward to it ...but the planning of it is somewhat daunting!
The girls will help though.
It is a grand occasion for all the children to meet up with their cousins!
Yes, I intend to order some books....I just haven't had the time to select which ones!

Hello, Elle!
Good luck with sorting everything out!
I bought Christmas cards last week, so that is me finished with Christmas shopping, etc.
I will purchase a steak pie for my Christmas dinner, and that will be that!
Re the crossword.
I did not really like "loadstar", I much prefer "lodestar".
And it is still 5 downing here!

Hey, Rusty!
Oh, everything will get sorted ...it always does....I just wish I were a better planner!
But we get there in the end...and we all usually have a really great time!
I am one up on you, as I bought my Christmas cards at the end of last year, in the Sale!
We have about a hundred to send all over the world......I buy charity cards, so feel it is doing some good, as well cheering all those folk who look forward to a card!
I must admit to enjoying receiving them, too!
I agree with you about lodestar...I had to check the spelling.
Two homophones , too, but at least they were reasonable ones!
Sorry about your 5 downing!
It has ceased raining here! Still mild(ish)
