Ptobes

24Dn. Answer needs adjusting before grid entry.

Crack filter (second word needs adjusting) is the definition. Letters of one teabag jumbled around a two-letter word of doubt/hesitation.

Thanks, H1982. It seems obvious now, soI was being remarkably obtuse.

Have enjoyed this, but am completely stumped by my last 3: 1a, 1d and 15a. I think I have one of each type of thematic adjustment left between those 3 clues (which I'm assuming is 1a and 1d). Could someone confirm if this is correct?

I can't see any combination of words in Chambers that works - are these three final entries all in Chambers?

Thanks

All done except for 10 down, which I believe to be an example of the second type of alteration. A hint would be appreciated.

Have now finally cracked it. As usual, posting unlocked the blockage.

OptO - 10d def is first 2 words, anag of last three (with a slight tweak). It is a type 2 adjustment, as you surmised.

Enjoyed that. Thought it was going to be straight forward as I sailed quickly through half the clues, but the other half took a fair amount of teasing out I thought.

23d is eluding me. I am aware that it will affect 31a. A hint would be welcome.

Foinaven, in 23d Def is 1st 3 words with misprint in 3rd; wordplay 1-letter yard, 3-letter tree.

I should also have said, it needs "treatment".

Thanks: It was so simple!

So I now have a full grid with five treated answers of the first type and six of the second. I will need to go through all my answers trying to locate the missing Type 2, although it probably does not matter at all since the treated answer will be OK.

They're arranged symmetrically.
