I nearly have a full grid, with 4 of the first 6, all of the second 6, and a sequence of 8 letters, which isn't a word, representing the title of the source. Only one word fits 15a and a word in the clue fits the answer, but I can't parse it. As for 24a, 31a and 24d, I am currently mystified - no hints required as it is still early in the day, hoping posting provides the necessary inspiration.

Thanks, Dylan.

1 A. A very common snake is inside, eaten by, some very common corvids.

36. I didn't know the short word for 'dusk, but I got the answer from the definition and the usual short 'I hesitate to say'.

Malone (and Dylan)

‘Dusk’ is altered to get a Scots word (3) before the usual hesitation

h1982, wrt 31a, I see what you mean but I if that is the case I do not understand the definition at all, and the altered first word is superfluous/not relevant as that answer does not have a geographical limitation according to my sources.

H1982, thanks. 36 A was an entry I stuck in fairly quickly - I should have had another look at it before helping with the answer!

Hi Gitto

Check it as the 3rd definition in Chambers. That has a geographical indicator (provided of course you have the correct answer in the first place!)

h1982, my apologies but forget my post at 17. I just finally parsed 15a which is the last of the 12 I needed, prior to that I was fixated on 31a being one of those.
