Thanks Jordan, found it now. What achingly good works, so glad this theme has prompted me to re-visit, after ignoring it all when at school.

The penny finally dropped! I think my only remaining confusion is 24ac—is this simply a cryptic definition? It feels unnecessarily verbose but I can’t see granular wordplay otherwise.

Hi CM,

24a - the first three letters are the adjusted first word of the clue and "directed towards" are the last two.

That's the wordplay but the def is the last 7 words of the clue.

In the Latin version of Winnie the Pooh, "Tiggers don't like honey" becomes "Tigrides non iuvat mel"!

A hint on 15a, which is surely the result of treatment, would be very welcome.

Foinaven

15a Second word needs adjusting and first three words are definition.

Actors words (5) reversed then a 4-letter synonym for shame with its head chopped off (overcome).

Answer needs adjustment before entry as a real word.

Got everything done, eventually, except 24d, Crack filter with one teabag stewed, stifling word of doubt (7) The letters I have can only be completed by one of 2 words, but I can't make either fit the clue, so any pointers would be very welcome
