Hello, Elle!
It is dry here and slightly chilly!
There was a triathlon on BBC earlier, but that's all I could see.
And several bike races taking place including the Tour of Spain.
Well done on Everyman!
Been a quiet day for me.
Always is when there's no young ones about!

Good evening, Rusty!
Ah, unfortunately I missed the triathlon...I like watching those.... but I've been kept very busy, playing card and board games with the boys!
It has rained solidly all day, here.
I popped out briefly with the dog mid afternoon, but it was a cagoule and wellies trip!
The boys are just packing up all their bits and pieces ready for a quick get-away after breakfast.
My daughter is planning to beat the Bank Holiday traffic, and be home by lunch time., all being well.
( I don't think tomorrow is a Bank Holiday though for you, is it?)
Then there is only one more week, before the start of the new school term.

Hello, Ros!
Well done to your son on getting his black belt!
He sounds to have worked very hard to attain that.
Is your grandson following in Dad's footsteps?

Hi elle
Thank you. Yes, grandson has an orange belt with a green tab (half way to a green belt). Granddaughter plans to begin as soon as she is 6! It goes white-yellow-orange-green-blue-red-black in their martial art. And then Dans up to 10, though there are very, very few of those. Only one in the UK.

Good morning, Elle!
Dry start to the day here.
I have ordered a new cagoule/rain jacket, for the rainy days.
Just a cheapie from eBay.
I don't know if it is a Bank Holiday here, or not.
How can I tell?
For today, my diary states, "Late Summer Holiday, UK".
The local schools have been back for a week.
Hope your family get home without any traffic hold-ups.
It will be quiet without them!

Good morning, Rusty!
A dry start here, too!
The family have just set out on their journey ........all being well, without any stops, they should reach home about 12.30 pm
The younger grandson did not want to leave without playing one last game of "Sorry"!
We have had a great time with everyone.....it was lovely to see them all....and to catch up in all their news /doings in person.
I might need to sleep for a week though, now!
According to my wall calendar, it is a holiday in the UK today, except in Scotland, Rusty!
I am now going to have a well deserved mug of coffee.....and actually sit down to look at a crossword!!
Have you already done your puzzle?

Hello, Elle!
Great morning here.
Hope your family reach home safely.
Nothing seems different today so I reckon there is no Bank Holday, up here.
But, how can you tell?
I never know it is a bank holiday until someone tells me!
I had a quick glance at my puzzle and it does not seem difficult.
Famous last words!
I'll tackle it later.

Hi, Rusty!
I made a start on the puzzle, and met up with two words that I did not know among the first clues that I tackled!
So I chickened out.... and decided to do some of the washing......and remake the beds!
We have BB coming to stay for a sleepover this next weekend.
I shall take a look at the puzzle again in a little while.
Meanwhile, the house is now resembling something like order!
And then we shall be complaining that it is too quiet..... and be missing everyone!
Still, they will be back most probably at half -term.

Hello, Elle!
It is a fine day here.
Have your family reached home safely?
In the puzzle there were one or two words that were new to me, too, Elle!
That's how we learn!

Good evening, Rusty!
Yes, thank you, the family arrived safely home just after midday.
They had a good trip, relatively traffic free.
It is quiet here now......we shall miss them.
I wish that they lived nearer.
Did I mention that our eldest grandson ( 11 next month) is now two inches taller than I am?
I persevered with the crossword and completed it on the second time around, with only one parse outstanding.
2d: cat not wanting piano as musical instrument (3)
I have "uke" = musical instrument (def)
Presumably "puke" minus "p" for "piano"?
What does "puke" have to do with "cat"?
Anne B couldn't help me!
