I'd like to thank Les, Syzygy and Aristo for The Ghosts and Harpers: in this way I won't get bored waiting for the doctor & the dentist to go to work on me today & tomorrow (not to worry, nothing serious, I hope -- just painful)! In fact, I was always keen on "Ghosts" (don't find them "wrong" at all, which doesn't mean to say I can solve them easily!)
so this is a welcome new challenge! Thank you all!

I've made a start, but I'm finding it difficult!
I the beer in 12ac foreign?

My theory for 12 is disproved by 7dn - I'm not sure which answer to enter, but neither fits with my cheese.
This looks like it might be a frequent problem with this type of clue; the clue gives two "ghosts", one of which is the fodder, the other the definition. Which is which?

This is great fun!
I don't normally like ghosts but knowing they are there makes it a lot easier.

Not sure if one could call it a beer exactly, but it brewed, & made with honey.

12a) I had a synonym for "brewed" and a type of cheese, same letters, but no idea which to use. Aaaargh!!!

@Busby It's the common Dutch stuff.

"brewed" is the anagrind. See above for the beer.
