Should have added her christian name is very similar to an English composer of orchestral works (1862-1934) and her surname is as common as Brown

15) Christian name volcanic island in the West Indies - surname another word for taxi plus middle letters of valley

Still thinking of a reasonable clue for 13.

40. Russian limo goes back for Thames-side village actress.
I have just noticed that the answers are in the alphabetical order of the surnames of the "famous" women so I must have gone wrong at No. 40. I have reversed the russian limo and added the name of a very famous actress who was born in Hampstead Garden suburb and played Cleopatra. Now looking for alternative - is it something to do with a soap - perhaps Eastenders ? If so, I've had it ! Any clue gratefully accepted. Still have about 20 to go and now I know I live in a parallel universe.

Hi Julie - 40) If my answer is correct she is an English model and actress who became known as a girlfriend of Hugh Grant in the 1990s and is now engaged to a cricketer.

Yes, you're right ... and she did get engaged at St Andrew's - an hour ago ! You certainly keep your ear to the ground don't you.
Thanks - I'll battle on for a few more days with the rest. I think the setter is brilliant - it must have taken him ages. I just don't follow popular culcher..

Yes Julie - I totally agree - Richard is a brilliant quiz setter. I hope he exceeds his target for this very worthy cause.

Thank you for all your support and kind words. Sadly I've only sold two copies of the quiz online in the last three days, so the target is looking iffy.
