The penny has finally dropped for me on 3D, and it has turned out to be one of the misprints. So that's

15A, 17A, 2D, 3D and 18D.

Oh God, my 1A.

One can get so blinded by thinking there's a misprinted letter somwhere, and I had thought the C of calf mutated to an H.

Now I see it.

Oh boy!
I was happy(ish) with my 1ac ending in 'H' (it's been mentioned earlier and has an 'M' that fits with my 2d) and I have a 3d that makes sense (sort of) with no change of letter but the "Blend a peg" doesn't make much sense.
I have "Den'? ?????? ??ie drank coffee" - am I way out?

Nope, sounds like you're correct but den is not a full word in the completed passage...

What I've actually got is:

"Den's m????r ??ie drank coffe" if this is correct which is the wrong letter (ie one of the 5.)

That sequence is correct, the misprint is earlier on in the clue!

I'm down to the last 2. I've got a word to make a passage for 7dn, but it doesn't really make sense. And I still can't make head nor tail of 23dn. Can anyone help please?

From my "solution," 7D sounds like an old-fahshioned proverb. It sort of makes sense. Is it finishing?

Thanks DD.
I'm not that familiar with Last of the Summer Wine so had to do a bit of research!
All is now clear; so Edie is Glenda Pegden's mother and she does drink coffee! Brilliant -as is the whole crossword but very difficult I'm finding. - now have 21 answers (1 I'm not completely happy with.)
I read somewhere recently, think it was something to do with Araucaria's 90th birthday 'bash' that LOTSW is his favourite TV program.
