I must be very thick - I have checked the cast of King Lear and I still can't see it.
It is an American city isn't it?

re 7d, if I have the correct answer, you might think "civil disobedience" to make the passage make sense.

Is 17a an uncommon word? I have something in there, but I can't find a definition for it.

This is an amazing thread, btw...

Thanks ixion! Got it now. This puzzle has twisted my brain so much that I suffered a temporary bout of prepositional impairment!

PeterM, 7D reads perfectly well if you don't have a gap after 'ff' and do put a gap after the 'd'. You can't have a participle because you need the 'g' for 'good'.

Thanks RonH, but that's exactly what I've been doing. Yes, it reads OK, but the completed passage just doesn't make much sense.
