Thanks Ixion. I think I've finished it now, but I can't make a link word with the last 3 letters of 20 d- but I assume there must be a last word, otherwise it would go round in circles. Did you resolve your query?

No, I was getting muddled - I'd already found it, connecting with first 3 of 24ac.

First letme remind you:-

Simple Simon met a pieman
going to the fair.
Said Simple Simon to the pieman
"Let me taste your ware"
Said the pieman to Simple Simon,
"Show me frst your penny"
etc., etc.

So that gives you 21d/12ac.
OK?

I've finished and submitted now.

Apologies AJT - I had that link(had erroneously scribbled 19D when I meant 21D)

Its the 24A/21D definition bit I don't understand(I'm missing that page on my "online" Chambers)- seems to also be related to charge(battery) and penny(small coin)

Ixion, the 24d/21d connection is a small American coin. 21d is a water sprite. The penny concerns the nursery rhyme relating to 21d/12ac.

Why don't you two just exchange Email addresses and communicate that way?

AJT - I have the same coin, but it equals five US pennies! - the symmetry of the crossword seems to demand that depart is part of the defn?

For "depart" I have 20d/24ac. Perhaps I'm wrong?
