Chrise, speaking as a Welshman I must say that I can see nothing ambiguous about 21a!

Tough but fun going today, South completed but North yet to yield completely. FOI 23d so started with a chuckle.

chrise - Isis is/was a deity, not a spirit, surely.
Re 21a - isn’t ‘back to front’ generally accepted in crossword-land as an indicator of putting the last letter first, rather than of reversing the whole word?

All finished but I cannot parse 5d though the definition and crossers indicate an obvious answer. Any hints please?

Hi JustSolve
It parses as (4,1,4) where the first 4 is the plural of a now obsolete Japanese coin

(Though I wonder whether the pluralisation of the coin is correct - most dictionaries seem to suggest that the plural is the same as the singular, which is what I would expect)

Started late today, but didn’t find this too tricky. Like Geeker I thought a pangram was in the offing and like Rainman I thought Brummie always has a theme… hmm.
Not keen on “at” in 10a.
Can’t find support for the definition in 5a.
Saw 17 and immediately thought “Chris won’t like that!”

i found a reference to 5a as a measurement for slates, rather than the slates themselves
