The latter referred to posts 10-12. Thanks for bringing this up lucertola and thanks for solving the problem, Chrise and Jono.

Stuck on Sunday, again. Maybe that should be my new handle?

Help requested, please with:

18D - totally stumped by this one - nothing in quick solve seems likely and yet others must have found this easy as there are hardly any references to it here.

28A - Can only be one thing (S_R_B___) but cannot parse it at all; what's it got to do with 14?

1A Really didn't like this at all.
2D Thought this could easily have been better clued. But that's just me.

Hi J,
18d Snarl is the definition (as in get caught). The figure is a shape used in magic minus the first letter

26a 14 is the score in that game you might get from those specific letters

…I should have said ‘the minimum score’ , hence ‘at least’ in the clue

Thank you, jono,

18d Yes, I really should have got this one but somehow did not think of that definition for 'snarl' - all I could think of was either a wild animal or An American Werewolf in London!

Ah, 26a - the penny drops, I thought its last letter was R, as in something that 'scores' rather than the scoring of letters.

Thank you.
