Only started this today, difficult.

Had to cheat for 14A. Used missing letter solver for a few others (the Riley clue, never heard of her or knew what she was), and 25A.

It did not help that Wikipedia on its "List of stews" page has 3D spelt incorrectly!!!

I'm stumped on 17d too. I'm pretty sure I've got the second word and the second letter of the first word (!) but have no idea who Riley might be and I'm thinking that Google or Wiki might provide too many answers to 'Famous Rileys'!.
Not happy about 14a - isn't it customary for setters to indicate that a solution is 'different in some way'. Those who've got it will know what I mean but I don't want to post a spoiler.
Still stuck on SE corner and 28a is particularly baffling since I do have 10a. I'll trawl through the forum for hints.
Discovered 'Norman only after putting in the only likely candidate from the crossers - isn't this guy too obscure? Or has he been in the UK news lately and I've missed it!

Thanks, yes, I found it but... aha, now I've parsed it. Phew.
Hmm, well, having made some progress in SE I can see what 28a is supposed to be (probably) but I still can't see why it's 'tedious'.
Rats, now my risotto has almost boiled dry! Back later.

If you 10a (not as a sounds like) "tedious", you get.....?

Grrr; now I see 28, 10 and I hang my head in shame at not having got it earlier. Now a chance to finish...
