Oh dear

I googled South African tits.

Imagine my surprise!!

I must try another way of putting it.

Hi Roof
I haven't parsed 12,18, but I'm confident it isn't an anagram.
17d Bridget Riley (a bit obscure)
28,10 is a "reverse" clue (not a reversal)
11a is a fruit - it starts with another one.
Yes, you need Google for 5a - as I said earlier, it's South African.

Hi chrise

For the first time ever I can offer help. 12,18 is one of those clues that builds with every word, So a singer, a flat, lack of effort about an earlier (same) part of the clue. Which reads as 6, 3, 4 (around), 3.

Sorry for the clumsy exp.

4 to go for me.

Roof, 5a is a (rather good IMO) homophone, so I was sufficiently confident in the solution to refrain from Google.

Thanks philo - I should have seen the singer!

Hi geeker
The confusing thing is that there is a very common British example that works almost as well as a homophone that is 5,4

I thought this was excellent - just the right level of difficulty for me to complete unassisted, with some lovely inventive clues. 28- 10 was an early broad smile, but with 13d, 16d, 17d, 22a, 12-18 I cannot choose my COD at the end.
Foi 5a (in my ignorance I only realise in realise that this is not the familiar version of the bird!), LOI 19d (not sure of the parsing of the last three letters)
4d reminds me of Norman's 'cricket test', which provoked a wonderful letter in the Guardian beginning 'Norman (an immigrant name of ever I heard one)...'!

I'm enjoying a quiet weekend with my Mum in Cornwall, which is why I can take this puzzle before late Sunday night! Best wishes to all, stay safe and be lucky.

Thanks Chris

I just found the SA tit, though it was spelt differently on google. Is that an American spelling I wonder.

Thanks for the hint about Riley. I should have known that. I'm also old enough to know the Norman, but still can't parse it.

Back to the drawing board.

Hi Luko
The "security" is in a legal sense.
