Thanks Jono. I was fixed on a more normal use of Britain in clues. Couldn't see the wood for the trees.

4d younger solvers as well as non UK might have trouble parsing!

Finished except for 14a. Is it a foreign expression that I'm unfamiliar with?

14a is a foreign expression indeed. It’s an anagram of some of the words in the clue, but if it’s not too spoilery they don’t run concurrently, if that makes sense, so it’s a bit harder to spot.

Overall, I enjoyed this immensely! The cluing was so good it dragged my brain into new words, eg 2d.
One of my favourite Paul’s ever, probably because it was a tad easier thus nearer my level.

All done. Not saying I didn't enjoy this but if I'm honest I think Paul went at this a bit half-hearted by his normal standards.

Still managed some really clever cluing though.

FOI 5a. LOI 25a

COD like many 28, 10 with a serious mention for 16d

Thanks to all and Paul.

As previously stated nor had I and it stalled me for a while. Certainly never appeared in my garden. And being South African that would make sense.

HI Rocky

Red Arrows took off from Exeter airport about 15 -30 minutes ago. Have they got to Teignmouth yet?

Well, I think it is a difficult Paul. I've only got a couple on first read through 6d and 15d. I love 16d and 24,27ac but am stuck on many others. I'm assuming 12,18 is an anagram and means be honest, but I haven't been able to unravel it. Any hints?
What does Riley mean in 17d?
I think I need a hint for 28,10 and either 3d or 13d.

And I can't get the fruit for 11d. Is it not a fruit?
I've assumed that 5ac is some kind of tit, but my book only covers Birds of Britain and Europe. I might have to try google.
