I really don't know, I can't believe that the setter would let MUS do service for MS. So quite likely my explanation is wrong...

Hello again. Captain slow returns. I am going to limit myself to one question per day. I am seeing the light a little, but to help me out of my first glut, can you confirm that the third across answer sits on the second row?

Hi rrrRobbo, correct, entry 3 goes directly after entry 2, same row.

I'm really confused with the method of entry. Is there anything after the first 6 letter answer on the first line if clues 2 and 3 are along row 2? Also could I have a hint to the Elizabethan drama clue? Finally are answers divided equally between across and down? Thanks ever so much.

Ha ha. You and I are in the same position Unclued. I am assuming 4 unchecked at top right. Several clues driving me nuts. Going to sleep on it........

Yes no across answer in last 4 cells top right.

Unusual tempos is definition

Elizabethan word for impede- 3 letters begins with r

Extra u in wordplay taken out of a 5 letter word for dramas (I think of the word more to do with a trial in inquisition!)

Begins with a (the u would come next)

In the title, common = non-u, so litmus becomes litms = LIT MS

Thanks dja. I've got that one now. Where would it start? I thought the word might begin with a to fit in with the large cell.

I had that question too unclued. Further confused by 'it starts with a'. It doesn't. The drama starts with a. The answer starts column 6. Just figured it at lunch!
