Have a completed grid now with 6 cultivars defying gravity, but can't see how the 6 rogue clue answers relate to the grid entries, ie what does 'seek letter mixture' mean. For example, 22d gives FLORIN, but how does this relate to CODLIN ?

Have a look in the original clues and the corrected answers such as codlin are hidden in letter mixtures

O(LD COIN)-- gold... for example

Thanks for tying up that loose end Daniel, not sure I'd have ever twigged that. I wondered at first whether anagrams might be involved as DANGER rearranges to GARDEN, but the others I had solved were all fruitless. Still missing 2 rogue answers and without help from cross-checking they will probably stay that way !

A bit of déjà vu for me on this one. Having completed it on Sunday - took most of Monday to cold-solve 3 of the rogues. Have been there a few times before!

Thanks for the hints. All done now and understood apart from the original answer to 8 down. But I don't think the original answers are relevant once the theme is discovered.
