Hi twinsnan, for 77 think 4 syllables, a Scottish word for small, then sound made by sonar, then short version of boys name and finally exclamation when you hit your thumb with a hammer, hope this helps.

Nocando. Yes I meant 21 but my scribblings for 20 made me think l needed a word starting with cob. That is what comes of doing it after midnight! Just got in from my walk, going to try now to solve 21. 54. 77. Surely l have had enough helpful hints from you all to solve them! Thanks everyone, want to get it finished now.

Hi Jennifer. No 76. ..... As you drink you s...... add an S and it is a variety of bird (s).

Still need help with 54 anybody? I know it is a 4 letter word followed by an anagram of 'wolf'. I do have an answer but not 100% sure it is correct.

Good Evening Haeremai
Not sure about your answer for 76. It is a bird, but has only one W in my answer. (ends in S - plural)
54. The first bit (4 letter word) begins with W then an anagram of wolf as you say.
The whole answer could mean an anagram of wolf.
Good luck

Good evening Anotheray. For No.76, my answer is the name of a bird with a forked tail, with one W and an S at the end.

Re No.54, as well as myself this seems to be baffling others. I am about to give up so sorry, this is the answer my friend and her sister have come up with! WILDFOWL. If this isn't correct I think I give up. I don't understand the clue "the whole answer could mean an anagram".

Help pleeeeeeease!!!

As far as I can tell your answer to 54 is correct.
If you regard the word WILD to mean an anagram, then an anagram of wolf would be FOWL...hence WILDFOWL = WOLF
Regarding 76
I am not too sure of my answer now, I thought yours was
swallows which is what I had at one time, but then established the answer did not have two w's.
I am now confused..... must have another drink !!!!

Anotheray. Thanks re no.54. Sorry my mistake re no.76. Yes there are 2 Ws in my answer and I do have the same answer as you. Think I need a drink too! I am not going to check any more now and will send off my entry next week. Thanks again to you and everyone else for their help and will no doubt be in touch next time round.

Hi haeremai18 and anotheray . Regarding clue 76 and the fact that you are both going to have a drink,I suggest that you both ' lap' your drinks and then 'wing(s)' it !! OK?
