Hello again. Please ignore my request for help (97/101). Had a brainwave and chat with a friend and we sussed out the clues apart from the following two so if anyone can help me, I would be very grateful.
8. English trees rot (7). Does this begin with W and end in S ?
66. Union entrant successfully creates a stir (9)
Thanks.

Good morning haeremai
No.8 - no is the answer to your question. The answer is "rubbish" , an anagram of two trees plus E (one of the trees is yew)
No.66 See the recent clues given to me . The answer is a prison

Thanks Anotheray. Got them both now - so easy when you get good clues!!! Re No. 73, look up Anglo Saxon Council and that will give you the answer. Thanks again.

Hello friends of several years. Once again I am late to the quiz due to being away for family reasons. Good to see the same names on here, Winnie, Haeremae and others. I have solved about 80 in the last 2 weeks so decided to have a look and see what the real brainboxes can help out with. As usual it is the ones that must be simple that I am stuck on, always the case for me when the obvious does not immediately show itself. So......12, 14, 21, 30, 35, 37, 47, 49, 51, 54 (despite looking at hints given here, can only get swallows!) 59, 63 (again have seen hints but no good yet) 66 (still trying to think of the prison)77, 84, 91, 92, 94, 97 (cannot find correct synonym for twig) and 100. Any help with any of them would be so much appreciated. Why do we put ourselves through this twice a year, the agony of the rugby is bad enough!!

Hello Twinsnan. Not sure if I can help with the ones Anotheray hasn't given you but here goes:

12. Name of bird, think thief
35. Elderly woman with a hump
47. Word for crestfallen
49. Type of linen, cutting machine, Abbreviation for queen
54. I have a word for a collection of birds but not 100% sure this is correct?
59. Think of peaceful movement in the 1960s
63. Clue given before - WI (West Indies) + a, with creature (bird?) inside
66. Again clue given earlier. Think of union as in wedding (female side!) = house of correction = name of prison
91. Another clue already given. Anagram of Welsh + the first letter of another word in the clue = a scarecrow that scatters deer!
92. A word for covering up demeanours
97. Not 100% sure of this one but I have the name of an Australian acacia made up of twigs and rods to repair fences.

As said at the beginning cannot guarantee these are correct so up to you!! Good luck!
