Thanks Goofy. I had been trying anagrams but with no success. I think I need either a brain transplant or a better anagram-solving site....

Yes, but an anagram. Not as specific as lake or pond, and Latin not English (think of words for water-carrier, bridge for water etc) and put this word on both sides of anagram.

Thank you Famous 5 for all those clues. Got 42 easily enough....10 I know they were leaping but think the word may be skip ---- as a skip is a container (and a leap)so am I on the right road? I did say I was new at this, first time on a Rainbow quiz so not too used to their type of posers....no doubt many of you have already finished or almost done so forgive my Will work on the other clues in the morning. PS I don't think it is boring like a couple of people, I think it's frustrating but really enjoyable and I am going to be a regular addicted Rainbow quizzer.

Take no notice of the "Boring" posts. I'm afraid we have been subjected to a troll on here for several weeks now, who uses many names and can be very intrusive. Which of course is why they do it. It's best not to respond to any of these posts.

In a forum with no registration or moderation where identities are easily appropriated it's something we have to live with.

John from Arran...even though I don't use my full name I totally agree with you. Don't disapprove, just don't turn up is what I say.
