Hello, Elle!
My son says it is much colder in Paris than here.
But he is impressed. Says it is a huge city!
At karaoke the words of the song are on a large screen and the music backs you.
So, it is very simple.
It is just for a bit of fun, but some folk take it seriously, and would be singing several times a week wherever the karaoke is taking place.
I am just familiarising myself with the words for the next time I may go with the young ones to the karaoke, and have a go.
And "Me and Bobby McGee" is a favourite of mine.
It is hard to imagine someone who has never been to a karaoke evening?

Hi, Rusty!
So do you sing "solo", or are you singing along with the recording artist, such as with Kris Kristofferson?
This really is "new" to me!
I have never experienced it.
Actually, I do not think I even know anyone personally who has participated in karaoke?
I know you like singing!
(Are you any good?)
I always think of Janis Joplin with regard to "Me and Bobby McGee".

Hello, Elle!
No, you sing on your own to the music of the song.
So, instead of Kris Kristofferson singing, it's me singing!
No, I am pretty grim to be fair, but it's only taking part in a fun evening!
It's a bit of a laugh and every participant gets a round of applause!
Now, Miss O, on the other hand is very good indeed.
She does not just sing but performs the songs, too.
A few years ago, I saw a young lad go up, and he told the the compere he would like to sing "Bohemian Rhapsody", and of course he was asked "are you serious, it is very difficult?"
The young lad replied that he would give it a go, anyway.
He was absolutely brilliant.
The best I have ever seen at karaoke.
Not unlike BGT, often loads of dross, and then you find a gem!

Update, for Elle, Jazzgirl, and Malone!
There is a very nice tribute on AnswerBank tonight for Mikey.
"AnswerBank Remembers Mikey".
It is a lovely poem.

Hello, Jazzgirl!
I think Minty and Mikey corresponded by emails, too.
Minty wears her heart on her sleeve.
I hope I have not started your tears off!
A very nice poem posted by Gness, I thought!

Hello, Jazzgirl!
I agree about Minty.
Comes over as a very nice lady.
I suppose from now on when I visit Lidl the first thing in my head will be a thought of Mikey!
