I had lots of problems understanding 14D, until I remembered that the clue leads to the "other" part of the answer. The French province is two parts of the clue.

You need a 4 letter German emperor + french"the" + G H + a 2 letter province.

Or try your letters in the Universal Crossword solver, then google the alternatives

I'm struggling with the bottom right-hand corner.

Is 17D really as simple as it seems?

Presumably 22A or 25A is one of the special words.

Dearly beloved Geniuses! I have just joined this thread to check on an answer I wanted confirmed.The confirmation I wanted was not on the thread, but I the answer is now obvious to me.
Having read through the whole shocking thread, I just want to say that I will always be willing to give help when requested, competition or not!

Very enjoyable...my only query is at 12A, not sure how the last letter is parsed?
