I can't in all honesty remember there being a "rule", but even if there was this sort of thing takes on a life of its own doesn't it. Surely it doesn't really matter what the word is, the fun is composing the clue. There's enough wetblankets on this site without us adding to them I think.

NO,NO,NO terry,it is supposed to be fun but how can anybody write a clue for a word that they don't know.

I think I looked up most of the words used previously if only to be sure what they actually meant. I don't own a quality dictionary so I just type the word in my browser bar thingy and there it is. Once I know what the word means I just try and knock up clue. That's probably what most people do. Sorry, but I can't really see a problem.

C'mon guys...cool the beans - CLUELESS has evolved and will continue to do so - it's meant to be fun - Pastille is the boss this week and her word is law, end of story.

I agree Ixion,and I apologise for speaking out of turn,but I just could not accept Neil's comments,or indeed let them pass without having to say something.
