Thanks to previous help only 3 clues remaining where haven't the faintest. Partner and I will consider these during next 2 weeks when in France but may seek help on return if still unsolved.

Would clear way though if clues where I've got answers but slightly dubious about them could be confirmed or be pointed in another direction. My first thoughts on 33 come up with answer very similar to that to no 1 which (from previous experience of these quizzes)can't be right. Is it a marine version of the transport MEPs and such are said to ride on or, perhaps the surname of the actor Nigel who played TV's Dr Watson plus a 6 sided figure.

As regards 39, my first thoughts turn to chinese criminal gangs although clue would only make sense if the last 4 letters of South African dried meat also meant a kind of meat.

Also, although reasonably confident, is answer to 10 what Masefield has 'charging up the Channel in the mad, March days'?

for 39 think of a combination of two everyday cutlery items (think they were brought about to eat at a buffet etc when you had hands full)

Got it thanks Mamya (although never heard of it before). I certainly have never had one in any house I've ever occupied!

If anyone's still looking at this site, we (my posting of 5 May refers) got 2 of the remaining ones to be answered (and were surprised how easy they seemed once solved) but I'd still appreciate hints as to the one yet unsolved 'In the Cabinet, nearly everyone has the locks changed on March the First'.

Panic over. Had thought of trying 'al' 'hair' and M for anagram but only keyed alharim and alrahim into search engine as I presumed answer would end in M.
Still, if anyone has any thoughts on the answers I wasn't 100% sure of listed in my posting of 5 May, I'd appreciate them before posting off clean copy.

just one to get-93 Top Story of Athens(5).

Have had attic suggested but cant work it into answer other than through play on the words \'top story\' although the latter word is misspelt for this purpose
