Can someone help with 20d which I have ending IA but no word fits as I also think it starts with C D or E.
Clue for 20d seems to have too many words!

Literally everything in your first para is true, with the exception of ‘no word fits’…

Not being a maths man, anyone able to help me with the shape. I have the 4 extra words but no idea what to do with them…

Also, I could do with some help towards the play title. Is the play by one of our three writers? I assume the ‘given order’ mentioned in the preamble re the character swap threads means from 23 to 27 rather than chronologically. I’m hoping to work out the play title from the current letter strings I have and then use that to fill any gaps and correct any mistakes.

I'm no further forward on 20d hw7.
Nothing on Chambers word wizard, and have now searched through the book itself.
Maybe you can help with a clue for crosser 22a.

I think a square root is involved.

My final queries about solutions are 22ac and 30ac, please

Thanks Dylan, I thought so.

22 - extra word. Wordplay = first 3 words of clue.

Vineyards synonym + 1 letter.

30Ac - def = first 2 words. Next 7 words = 8-letter grid entry. Final 5 words of clue = full wordplay. (A 3 letter word/prefix for inferior, followed by a type of ‘electronic’ street dance + i)

Lumen - the answers isn’t the commonest word, but it’s very definitely in the Chambers app.

Your ‘IA’ is correct, and the earlier of your crossing letters is given by the Welsh town.

Very hard is to do with pencils.

As Dylan said, a square root is involved. Pythagoras is your friend here.

The play's title is obtained by looking at Across clues in their given order; I assume they occurred out of order to give Q an extra degree of freedom in the self-imposed constraint. Either character (given or replacement) may come first.
