Actually I meant that the clue works perfectly well without the "one" - "both sides" is sufficient.

I have unparsed solutions for my remaining two, the interlinking 2D and 10A. Am I right in thinking that the definitions are fire(verb) and lucky respectively?

I parsed 18d as 1,2,1,1,1 with the 2 coming from the second word. I think the rest is clear.
