would someone please put me out of misery -i have finished the crossword-but unlike most did not get the "aha" moment with reference to the title-i have a vague idea it is to do with either the sound or configuration of letters?

Anableps is a four eyed fish

Half of the unclued lights relate to types of eyeglass(people that wear glasses can be described as "four-eyed").

The other four unclued lights contain four letter "i"s.

ixion-thanks a lot-could not see(sorry) how two of the unclued words fitted in with the title and confused myself on going off on all sorts of tangents-thanks again.
