When I looked in yesterday evening there was a puerile rant against all here from someone called 'marky'. It has now disappeared. Did someone complain?

I saw it too. In fact my response to you was part prompted by what I perceived was the need to treat it with indifference and put on another comment as if it didn't exist. Not like me, you may say ! But after I posted my comment I saw that it wasn't there anymore. I don't know whether anyone complained, or whether it was a case of Norah enforcing the 'conduct on the forum' guidelines. Like simond9x at #68, I too can't parse 15d. Does the letter go at the front of 'itches'?

Hi Orientfan, my understanding of this clue is that one who ditches might be called a 'discarder'. Discarder ditching dis gives carder. So 'ditches' is used twice in the wordplay.

Hi all. I always start rather later than most on these Listeners I think. However I am quite enjoying this one. Have nearly finished and have the quotation but I am stumped on 1D. I have trawled through previous posts and no one seems to have remarked on it as far as I can see. Maybe my crossing entries are wrong. I have MAT- .
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Goshawk, 'Were wed' is the definition, in a biological sense rather than a religious one. 'Mad' around TurtlE's shell.

In 15d, if express means to emit or similar, and you take scorn as a verb, then ditches doesn't have to do double duty.

Mersault many thanks re 1D. For some reason I just forgot about needing to add the d to the clue! Got it now. All now complete.
