I love "Arise for this joker. (5-2)", that's perfect! Thanks!

Ok, so I still need a clue for FART and for FORTY. Any suggestions?

Other words that I could use are BUSINESS (we met when we both owned small businesses & shared an office), and PUZZLE (he's a puzzle designer)

He got a short story published, so I also figured I could use AUTHOR.

Golden god's creator (6) - AUTHOR
A charade clue, golden (AU), and god (THOR). An author is a creator.

1. Reversing in traffic, he's worthless (4). (That's from the Chambers definition of your chosen word).

I like it Malone.
I've got traffic reversing written down but that's as far as I got.

I don't quite get it? I can see the "cifFART in" part of reversing IN TRAFFIC, but I can't figure out the "he's worthless" part?

What's a Chambers definition?

Working on a clue for "one". So far I have:

A single contrary nun (3) - ONE
Is a contrary nun (NONE) an acceptable hint? Because ONE doesn't really mean the opposite of NONE.

A single cardinal was the lowest (3) - ONE
1 is the lowest cardinal number. I don't love this one, as if he doesn't know that fact, it's impossible to get.

A little past noon, a solitary cardinal was counted lowest (3) - ONE
I like this one, as a little past noon is 1pm, and a solitary (one) cardinal (cardinal number), and was counted (numbers) lowest (one is the lowest cardinal number).
I feel like this has so many overlapping hints, that no specific one is needed?

A solitary count (3) - ONE
I like this one just because it's short

Chambers (dictionary, the one most setters and solvers use) defines Fart as 'a worthless person'. It was a very simplistic clue!

Aha! I like it!

@Malone, I feel that that's a technically correct clue, but I had no idea that that was the Chamber's definition of fart.
On the other hand, I don't solve crosswords very often. Is this a thing someone else might get? Anyone else get that part of the FART clue?

(Windy is an informal word for nervous).
