Surprised myself by storming through this, despite a couple of clues I didn't really fully parse. Stuck on the last one.

Sure. Concerts was on my list and it parses right, but can't connect that to "Unions"

I might as well put the other oblique clues in there. I have the answers to these, but can't figure out why. Sometimes I'm on the same wavelength as a setter. Other times, I just can't see how they think.

I'm puzzled by one - 21a

Only one possible answer, I think, but I've tried putting a letter at front and back to "redress" it, but I can't find anything that exactly matches "mother" as noun or verb, though there is one that's rather loose. Is this what's intended?

I don't do this crossword but it could be another word for mother (5 letters) minus the first and last letters (which are the same letter) leaving a girls name
