Qesue, Do you mean the 7 unclued words ? Yes, once you get them you can look up the adjacent words in the dictionary. Whihc ones don't you have ? Think I have the three missing "books', they are all 'sayings'rather than books....I think !

Hmm...yes, I agree. A very clever idea and construction but I think the preamble is misleading.

One last thing - are you able to explain the final "TO" and the unclued in the last column for me

Yes, the final TO is "Take to Wife" and the last "book" is Wiffleball to Zythum (the last word in the dictionary).

Notwithstanding our reservations about this puzzle, I do like the four TOs in a line in the two centre rows.

I must be missing something because I don't see how to get the 4th book...?
I have RAN? in column 7 ? ..I don't have all the extra letters from the downs
