Hi, Rusty!
An addition to my last post ......
I couldn't find out anything about our own village Christmas lights....but apparently three of the previous "Bucks Fizz" stars turned on the Bromley Town Centre lights on November19th!
I wonder were they a big draw?
I am meaning no disrespect to them, as I really liked them in their heyday.....but would many of today's young know who they are?
Have you not read "Uncle Tom's Cabin" by Harriet Beecher Stowe?
Topsy "just grew"!

Please don't argue, guys.......
We don't want Norah to feel she has to intervene and stop us all talking on here.
Norah's instigation of this PCT thread has worked very well...... and everyone seems to feel they can join in whenever they wish and have a good chat.
Don't spoil a good thing......

Hello, Elle!
Topsy "just growed"!
I have found out a little bit about her.
I think Bananarama have reformed, too, think I read that in the paper.
I liked Buck's Fizz.
There is a football match on in town tonight, too, so not the best of planning.

Hi, Rusty!
You are right! I misquoted!
Shame on me!
I still have the book somewhere.......
One of these days, I really must have a sort out...I think I have told you that I have "books behind books" on my bookshelves!
And no more wall space for any more shelves!!
I reread a lot of old favourites.
I do give away quite a number of books - to friends and charity shops - though.
Maybe football supporters - if they are well-behaved fans? - will lend themselves to the atmosphere of the Christmas Lighting up celebration?
Will the Switching on of Lights ceremony be shown on your local TV News?

Hello Elle and Rusty,

Dull miserable weather today, but after such a warm night - +12C!
Unbielivable.

I have treated myself to a tablet on Black Friday Sales - just 47 euros!
It is second hand but entirely revamped, and with the guarantee
of CDiscount - I use them a lot.
I will not want to use the tablet for too many things, so I am sure
it will be good enough for my needs - well I hope so!

Have you bought anything yet?

Hello, Pigale!
Whilst your temperatures are going up...ours here on the London/ Kent borders are set to go plummeting down!
I believe that tomorrow we shall hit 2C!
I could wish that it would stay one thing or the other.....I don't mind its being cold, if only we could have a constant temperature!
Well done on your Black Friday purchase!
I am not very well up on tablets - altho' I have a (Tesco) Hudl.
My knowledge is so basic!
I am easily confused!
No, I haven't bought anything....I looked at the books on Amazon, but didn't see anything in the Sale that appealed to me.
I did get the entire set of Jane Austen in a previous year's BF Sale though!

Hello Elle,

Not much of interest in the DVD department - except for some
classical French TV films (made from a book) which I already have.

I think these last 2 or 3 nights were exceptional, and it was only
2 degrees warmer during the day - ie not much difference between
night and day.
We are due to go down several degrees too, and by tomorrow
night, it will be around 1C !
Like you I hate these changes, and my back does not like the
humidity we are due to have - a lot of rain forecast, before
eventually snow.

My tablet, as I gather, is going to be very basic, but all I want
to do with it really is watch the Rugby or the Tour de France
in my armchair instead of in front of the computer (as you do)
The TV here needs to be re-connected to the satellite dish and is
meant to receive British programmes only, I think.

Sorry, sent a bit abruptly - A new system needs to be installed since
the French TV system has changed recently.

Hello, Elle!
Not easy getting rid of favourite books!
I reread books, too.
I guess, though, I only have around 50 left now.
Well, the fans at the game are well behaved.
It is on my television and my grandson is at the game.
He says it is Arctic there!
I do not know if the lights are on TV.
I tend not to watch the local news.

Hello, Pigale!
Nice to hear from you!
I am sure you will get on fine with your new tablet!
Even the cheap ones are getting better all the time.
It is very cold here, too!

Hello, Pigale!
The Hudl is just a basic tablet made for Tesco.
My daughter recommended my getting it, but my use of it is limited by my lack of computer knowledge!
Rusty has one - I think he is/ has been a lot more proficient at using his, than I am with mine!
Re watching sport.....mostly I watch the tennis and Athletics on my television - when covered by a relevant channel - which means that I can sit comfortably on the sofa!
It is only when I am watching something shown by EuroSport Player that I need to watch it on the computer- which necessitates sitting on a revolving chair in front of my desk top!
I hope you do not get too much variation in your temperatures!
It is difficult to know what to wear/ how to heat the house/ isn't it?
