Hello, Elle!
Now this chair that has been gifted to you.
Is it a solid wood one or soft material, too?
President Kennedy loved his rocking chair.
Yes, Elle, curling is very similar to bowls.
"The Roaring Game".
It is the European Championships.
The Scots women beat Sweden this morning, and the men's final is between Scotland and Sweden, too.
I am not encouraging you with doughnuts!
I am not so sure they are very healthy things to eat!
A good puzzle today.
18a is new to me, and 2d.
I have vaguely heard of 6d.
Good luck with the rest of the puzzle, Elle!

Hi, Rusty!
Sorry, did I not make it clear?
The rocking chair is solid wood - a beautiful piece of craftmanship.
(No cushions, or soft upholstery)
I love it!
Yes, the crossword is a good one!
I have finished the puzzle, bar only one parsing......but I shall think about that for a while!
My favourite clues are 14a and 18a.
I wish there were some tennis to watch...or even better...Athletics!
But as there isn't........I shall take the dog for a walk!

Hi, Rusty!
Goodness, it was very cold out!
I doubt the temperature had risen more than a degree or two since early this morning.
The lake hadn't frozen though.
But I was glad of my scarf and gloves!
I have only just had chance to return to the computer, since we came home......
It has been rather quiet on here for the last couple of days?
Maybe folk have been too busy with the Black Friday Sales?
Did you have a good time with your grandson when he visited ?

Hello, Elle!
Yes, it is cold out, indeed!
I suppose, Elle, that folks' minds are turning toward Christmas etc and the puzzles are taking a back seat?
I got an email from eBay telling me they have cut the price of a book I was "watching", so I think Black Friday is still going on for a day or two.
Yes, nice to see my grandson.
He is taller than me now!

Hi, Rusty!
Well, we have Cyber Monday still to come, don't we?
So I suppose the one will most probably run into the other?
The companies will rake in more money that way.
How do you mean you were "watching" the price of a book on eBay?
I don't understand?
Were you bidding or something for the book?
No.....that cannot be it or the price would not be "cut".....?
Your grandson must be very tall!
I am the shortest of our immediate family, with our son second.
The girls are about 5ft 10 ins and my husband 6ft.
Son is not happy that his sisters are taller than he!
I am re- reading another book by P.D. James ..."Original Sin."

Hello, Elle!
On eBay each person has a "watching" page.
It consists of the items you are bidding on, or ones you have an interest in.
If you see an item that interests you, you click on the "watch" button, and that item then appears on your "watching" page.
(You could also bid at the same time.)
I think on my page just now there are around 14 items that I am "watching".
I may bid on several of these, or I may not, but the auctions don't end for several days yet, so plenty of time.
It was a "watching" item that I was emailed about.
I have the "watching" page as my home page on eBay.
It is a straightforward system, Elle, I do not think you would have any difficulty understanding it.
My grandson is 6ft 2".
Miss La Bamba is the tallest of the girls at 5ft 9".
P.D. James seems to be a very popular author?

Hi, Rusty!
Thank you for explaining about the eBay sytem.......I shall take a look .
I guess I have not come across / noticed it , because I rarely go on eBay for books, as I usually have money to spend in my Amazon account.
There is no point in my spending my own cash when family and friends often give me Amazon vouchers!
Yes, I think P.D. James writes a good tale.......the stories are well-written with attention to correct usage of grammar and sentence construction.
I appreciate that when I am reading!
Now, somewhere I have all (most?) of the CP Snow "Strangers and Brothers" series....I used to love reading those!
(I must try to find them! I really do need to reorganise my books!)
Have you ever read any of them...as I dimly recall, they are great books!
Younger daughter tells me she is 5ft 10ins , her sister apparently 5ft 9ins!
These inches are carefully guarded!
I always say I am 5ft 4 and a half!

Hello Elle and Rusty,

Complete change in the weather and temps down to 1C now!

I did some bidding on ebay for a few tablets, but right at the
last second (and I mean second), someone outbid me -
I had let ebay doing the bidding for me, setting the maximum
price up to which I was prepared to bid.
It"s a bit of fun really, but I don't think one can seriously hope
to actually 'win' the bidding, unless you are watching the clock
to the last second!
Have you some bids on Rusty?

Hello, Elle,
I often find that the books are cheaper on eBay, often from the same sellers.
I recognise C.P.Snow's name but I know nothing of his work.
Have a look on eBay.
I have bought quite a bit of stuff on it, mainly books, but also gardening tools, shoes, stationery, etc.
It is worth having a look.

Hello, Pigale!
It is around 1C with me too!
I have had the same experience with last second bidders.
It is not unusual!
I think you are very sensible setting your maximum and letting eBay do the work.
I often do that.
Well, coincidentally, Pigale, I am watching several tablets, too.
Lenovo Zens, I think they are called.
And a leather jacket, and lavender sachets (supposed to be good for getting rid of moths!) and some other items, including books.
But no bids from me yet, they have a while to run still.
I agree, it's a bit of fun, but nice if you win!
