Finished, but two I can't parse - any suggestions?

2d Direction to surround, in France, on way to seize power (5)
?S?R?
I think it must be USURP (seize power), but I don't see the rest.

4d Greek goddess leaves to blend alloy (7)
?M?L?A?
AMALGAM? (blend and alloy), but "Greek goddess leaves"?

Thanks elle - not worshipped much, then, I guess!

For those who have completed, there's an odd coincidence. Today's Guardian has:
13a Iris - first one replaced by a yellow variety of it (5)
