Another Doh! from me .
The completed paper was on the desk the whole time and I never thought to re-check the clue.

Chrise. Thanks for the descriptions of birds from Costa Rica and for the connecting photo. They do look and sound wonderful. I recently saw that David Attenborough programme on birds of paradise and could hardly believe my eyes.

By the way I am still stuck o n that Argentinian shoe!!

A (Playground) game + Artist (Abb) - reversed after a short word for a Mountain.

I'm unsure on the last one again. Hints, please, for 9a - Sandy on margins... Ecru, I suppose, is a sandy colour, but where does the energetic sport fit in?

Some devious clues this week, the 'indefinite article' in 10 was rather sneaky, for one. FWIW I went for larval for 11a.
