You are right about the priest, but the "a" of the clue could go into the answer instead (though referring to Charles Lamb might have avoided the problem!)

If it hadn't been for you good people saying this was tough, I'd have had to conclude I was losing the plot and should give up doing this crossword (having said that, I've only just got 23A, one of the easiest clues). Thanks for the moral support, folks.

A Happy 2015 to all R-Timers.!
Have struggled with this week's x-word but your many tips have helped me on my way.! However, I notice no one else has had problems with 14d..! HELP..!! I have -e-s---e- (am I correct?) This obviously shows I'm not sure of 22a either.!

22a is in the clue. 14d is an anagram of seeds around a farm vehicle giving a philosopher. Hope this helps.
